Wordpress/Database Help
« on: July 02, 2010, 08:59:39 PM »
Hello,

Having set up wordpress blogs before it seemed like it would be an easy day.  But alas, here I am asking for some help.  I'm getting an unable to connect to database error so let me see if my understanding of what is requested is correct.  Perhaps for a database you need the whole db name such as user_wordpress?

My Database name is Wordpress
The User Name: does this refer to my database user name or overall user name?
Password: same as above
Database Host: Localhost?
Server Address: Videogamemojo.com

Any help would be appreciated as this simple five minute install has taken me over an hour already.  Thanks.

Also, is public_html considered the root directory?  Thanks again.

yes public_html is the root directory for all files you wish to serve to the general public .

database info is always in this format on G.C. Servers.
Database name= cpanelusername_databasename
Database user=createdusername_databasename
Database host=localhost

Thank you kindly.  It also seems as though I may need access to a .htaccess file.  Is there any option to show this file in the cpanel?  Thanks again for the help.
